Methyl perfluorobutyl ether is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable perfluorinated hydrocarbon ether which has applications in liquid cooling and as a fire extinguisher in applications where pouring water on the fire may further damage what's on fire (such as museum artifacts). It is used as the primary ingredient of 3M™ Novec™ 7100 (99.5%) along with the constitutional isomer methyl perfluoroisobutyl ether.[1]
